Charles Aiken advises businesses, business owners, entrepreneurs, investors, and financial institutions on mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance, commercial transactions, and other business matters. His more than 25 years of experience spans private practice with an international law firm, senior in-house legal roles, and executive leadership. He also serves as outside general counsel and strategic advisor to businesses and their owners and executives.
Charles represents clients in acquisitions and dispositions, debt and equity financings, recapitalizations, private investments, joint ventures, and other transactions. He also advises clients on complex commercial agreements involving technology licensing, manufacturing, supply, distribution, and other business relationships.
Before joining Hagood Moody Hodge PLC, Charles served as Managing Director and General Counsel of a private investment firm focused on acquiring and operating manufacturing companies, where he led acquisitions and financings and oversaw legal matters across its portfolio. He also served as Acting Chief Operating Officer and later Interim President of one of its portfolio companies.
Earlier, Charles served as General Counsel and Corporate Secretary of a healthcare and medical device company. He previously practiced with Squire, Sanders & Dempsey (now Squire Patton Boggs), a global law firm, and regional law firms in Tennessee. He began his legal career as a law clerk to the Honorable R. Kenton Musgrave of the United States Court of International Trade.
Charles earned his J.D. from the University of Tennessee College of Law and his B.A. from Vanderbilt University. He is admitted to practice in Tennessee and New York.
