Matthew Ryan brings the experience and perspective he gained practicing law in Houston back home to East Tennessee. At Hagood Moody Hodge PLC, Matt represents individuals in personal injury matters, criminal cases, and other various civil disputes.
Before returning to Tennessee, Matt practiced with McDowell Hetherington LLP in Houston, where he represented clients in a broad range of civil litigation matters. His practice included personal injury and products liability litigation, commercial and contract disputes, creditor litigation, and insurance-related matters. His experience included drafting and arguing motions, handling discovery, preparing witnesses, and negotiating disputes. Matt also handled more than 50 eviction trials and appeals in Texas courts.
Having previously represented defendants in personal injury and products liability cases, Matt brings an understanding of how claims are investigated, defended, and litigated to his representation of injured individuals in Tennessee.
Matt believes effective representation begins with understanding the client as well as the case. He strives to provide straightforward advice, clear communication, and an honest assessment of his clients' options while relentlessly advocating for their interests.
Matt graduated from East Tennessee State University and earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Houston Law Center. He is admitted to practice law in Tennessee and Texas and before the U.S. District Courts for the Northern, Southern, Eastern, and Western Districts of Texas.
